B.S.S MAHILA COLLEGE,DHANBAD was established on 17th of August, 1977 to promote Value – based education for women especially the tribal and underprivileged class. The college campus is located in an area of 5 acres in the heart of the Dhanbad city which happens to be the district headquarter.

This college is a govt. aided College, permanently affiliated to Vinoba Bhave university,Hazaribag. The College was recognized by the UGC under its clauses 2(F) and 12(B). The College offers 3 years degree (Hons. and Gen)courses in different subjects of Arts, Science and Commerce.

Besides this, the College has its NCC and NSS units.The College has faculty members, who are constantly endeorouring to make significant brak through in their fie.

It has well equipped- 14 classrooms and 06 laboratories which are the main assets of the institution. Sports facilities are also provided to the students . The College has enriched library containing 3223 textbooks and journals. The College has grievance redressal cell.

The overall management of college is governed by its Governing Body(GB) consisting of eminent educationists and socialists of the town .

The College has good mechanism and plan for internal monitoring coordination for quality improvement. The College ever since its inception has set the highest standards of excellence and quality which go hand in hand with the dream and vision that the college cherishes. Its aims to grow futther as a diverse and socially responsible seat of learning and impart high quality of education and equal opportunity for all .
